Syrian refugees Crisis

-Eight million Syrian refugees displaced internally and externally during the three years conflict.
-One million of which are children are under the age of 7 .
-The UN declares it as the worst crisis in history.

Syrian crsis has reached a critical point with the number of refugees reaching 10 million people , this is a massive number taking into consideration the small sized population which is 16 million .

The united nations has declared the crisis as the worst humanitarian crisis in history , The U.N. estimates there are now approximately 2.7 million Syrians registered in neighboring countries, with more than 700,000 more to register in the coming months.

Figures of refugees in neighboring countries break down as follows:

Lebanon : more than 1 million Syrian refugees, with many more unaccounted for scattered around the country.

Jordan : 650,000 registered refugee and the number is increasing daily with people escaping the villages on the south of Syria.

Turkey :  more than 750,000 registered Syrian refugees. Turkish government has been very hospitable in accommodating them in organized clean camp with play grounds and regular food supply .

The three years old civil war has taken its toll on the Syrian people and their country neighbors , where 4 million have sought asylum .

Poor living  conditions and the carelessness of the international community has caused the refugees in camps in Jordan and Lebanon to protest – sometimes violently – in order to make their voice heard.

Jordan has the second largest refugees camp (Za'atri) in the world where conditions according to a UN source is very challenging and the UN camp administration has announced on its website that they will not be taking any more refugees unless its an exceptional circumstances .

The government has opened a new refugee camp in the north of the country , the new camp is designed to take pressure off alzaatri camp .

A London based journalist , Rami abed criticized regional governments lack of interest and effort  : ‘the Jordanian and Lebanese governments don’t wan to know , both prime ministers have asked the UN for financial aid as both Jordanian and Lebanese economies are staggering and can not handle extra pressure’.

“ the UN and syria’s neighboring countries have got a moral and financial responsibility towards these hard pressed refugees’’ he added.

Salah Shamas the director of london based "Central administration charity" which specializes in raising funds for the Syrian crisis said : ‘’In the middle of the fierce fighting and three years after the conflict started , people are still fleeing to safety , there's absolutly no justification for people's  suffering caused by a war which you can quite easily describe as a' struggle for power'  ” .

“the number will continue to rise and the international community needs to face up with this challenging task , When walking through za’atari camp , the smell of excrement sticks and follows you, the water which is presumably drinkable is dark grey “ . he added

Conditions in these camps are approaching catastrophe and in urgent need of aid, refugees are vulnerable to abuse , in desperate need .

Ukrainian Demonstration

-Ukrainian government announced that its lost control over the east of the country which has sparked protests.
-Protesters are relentless and demanded a meeting with the British prime minister.
-Observers : a third world war is approaching if the west doesn't act.

Outside 10 downing street , Ukrainians are relentlessly protesting days and nights to push the UK to fulfill its international obligation under Budapest treaty and intervene in Ukraine and defend it against “the Bullying attitude of Russia “ 21 years old protester Oleg Davydov said .

The look of anger and desperation in the faces of the protesters was quite clear and walking through the crowed one would sense the tension and hopelessness at the submissive stand of the west .

Budapest memorandum is a treaty signed in December 1994 by the Russians , USA and the UK to provide Ukraine with security assurances against threats or use of force of violence from any external power in return for Ukraine giving up its nuclear arsenal which it had had since the days of the soviet union .

“Russia has not only threatened and used force against Ukraine but actually has invaded a strategical territory of it which is Crimea” Oleg added.

In a series of violent actions against Ukraine , Russia has now occupied the eastern province of the country with its masked highly trained pro-Russia militia .

Observers have warned of a third world if Russia continues with its aggression and Russia must stop its military operations and come to negotiate a diplomatic settlement , “Ukrainians will fight all the way to liberate their countries , the Russians are afraid of us because we are willing to die for our land “ 24 years old political activist Nadia Pylypchuk said at the protest.

most protesters are members of a Ukrainian political Movement called London Euromaidan which was founded a few months ago in the aftermath of the events in Ukraine , and it consists of Ukrainians citizens living in the UK.

The Ukrainian president has said yesterday that the country has “practically” lost control of the east of Ukraine , which is why these demonstrations have been sparked around the world against Russia .

Russia has always accused the Ukrainian opposition of fascism , there's some truth in that , in fact some reports linked to Almasar center for strategic studies has found some Nazi members among them , “this is absolute complete and utter rubbish , we are patriotic and that’s our sole motivation , this is very offensive from the media to report and promote the Russian propaganda “. Nadia has added in an anger tune .

Andrew Smith From CAAT

-Born and raised in Zimbabwe .
-Witnessed the horror of war first hand.
-"Campaigning against arms trade is a goal of my life"

Andrew smith is the media coordinator and head of the PR department at ‘campaign against arms trade’ or CAAT which has seen a remarkable success over the last year by exposing imminent deals and preventing it from going ahead and cause death to people around the world .

Andrew was born in Zimbabwe where his parents lived for decades , he has witnessed first hand the sufferings and the death of many people around him , he considers himself to be lucky to make it out alive .

His father died when he was 12 years old , He attended primary school in Chakari , Andrew began his studies for a BA in political science at the university of Hertfordshire in 2003 and graduated in 2006.

His awful experience in Africa and the violence he has witnessed has led him to campaign against arms trade which has subsequently led him to working for the infamous CAAT.
Andrew says that The arms trade is an illegitimate and morally bankrupt trade that fuels war and profits from conflict. CAAT has always been at the forefront of opposing it, and the growing militarization of our society. I wanted to join so that I can make a difference.

“I have been a part of CAAT  range of high profile multimedia campaigns and demonstrations. We work with a range of other groups to campaign on the issues that are important to us. We also work constructively with MPs and journalists to ensure that our scrutiny and analysis reaches the biggest possible number of people.” Mr Andrew Smith said.

CAAT polling has shown that 60% of the public are opposed to the UK selling weapons to dictatorships and oppressive regimes. Andrew has worked hard to build  big and active supporter base and CAAT actions and campaigning work always receives a positive response .
In response to what European governments that sells arms reaction to thier campaign and whether they tried to interfere ion their work , Andrew said :“Governments do not like to be publicly associated with the arms trade, and most arms companies don't like to be reminded of what they do. We have challenged governments and human rights abusers every step of the way, and of course they don't like that.”

Campaigning against arms trade is one of the hardest jobs in the field , its about facing up to these whales that sells arms to any one that has money but with the likes of Andrew and his dedicated team ….the fight continues .

Iran - west nuclear deal

-Iran economy will benefit significantly from the deal.
-The USA is hoping to end tension in the middle east after the deal .
-Saudi Arabia has joined the race to obtain nuclear technology in response to the deal.

Recent nuclear deal between Iran and the U.S. proves to be a landmark in the bilateral relations as well as geopolitics. The event hugely influences the world politics and economics shifting the priorities of the U.S. foreign policy. Iran has been previously stamped as a 'rogue state' by American mainstream media. Iranian President’s words were often distorted.

Saudi Arabia declared that it was ready for its own nuclear program. The Saudi outrage is obvious and expected. Israel should also tolerate new position of its U.S. Department of State. It seems that Iran managed to persuade the West that the country influences regional as well as global political and economic processes.

24 November 2013, Iran signed nuclear agreement with six major powers. Iran promised to curtail its nuclear activities for a six-month period since 20 January 2014. In their turn, six countries such as China, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia and the U.S . promised to relief their sanctions upon Iran’s nuclear program.

“Iran is indeed one of the key geopolitical actors because of its location in the very heart of Persian Gulf and the richest oil deposits in the world”. Says Mr Mousa Afshar , spokesman for the Iranian opposition in France.

Iran started diluting its enriched uranium on 20 January 2014. Catherine Ashton represented France, Germany and Great Britain as the biggest EU powers (Lewis, 2014). Ayatollah Ali Khamanei even called the United States as the “Great Satan” for its approach to the negotiations. Iranian supreme leader doubted US sincerity and even accused it of enmity towards Muslims and Iran itself. On the other hand, President Hassan Rouhani marked a new era of Iranian-American relations. US Secretary of State John Kerry even said ‘Now is not the time for politics’.

Dr Wessam Dema , a professor in Baghdad university said: “US submissive position can also be explained by the unease Obama’s position. He did not even publish the full text of the agreement with Iran , the west has given in to IRAN”.

Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif confessed that the U.S. party exaggerated the impact of the November 24 deal on actual processes within Iranian nuclear program , in an interview with the CNN , Zarif had to state that the information on nuclear deal was distorted by the White House administration. The distortion of facts took place in underplaying the U.S. concessions and overplaying Iran's commitments. Iran really agreed to dilute its 20-percent enriched uranium to 5-percent enrichment. The line of 5 percent should not be exceeded. All necessary equipment for further uranium enrichment should be stopped.

As a conclusion, Iran proves its independence from the Western powers. National authorities defend the Iranian national interests and care about wealth and prosperity of the Iranian people.
